Events in Your Spiritual Life
Baptism- The Lutheran sacrament of baptism is a significant part of our faith journey. In baptism, you are named a Child of God, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and marked with the Cross of Christ forever! Baptism unites you with Jesus Christ and the Church, washing and renewing you to live as a child of God. Anyone of any age can be baptized at Peace. Prior to a baptism, the pastor will meet with the person to be baptized (or their parent/sponsor) to discuss the baptismal covenant.
Holy Communion-At Peace Holy Communion is offered every Sunday to all believers of Jesus Christ. In this sacred meal of bread and wine, we are united to Jesus and all believers, past, present, and future. We welcome you, we welcome everyone, including children, to receive Holy Communion.
Confirmation- Confirmation allows youth to affirm their baptism and commit to the baptismal covenant. Youth will prepare for Confirmation by learning about the Lutheran faith, studying scripture, participating in worship, serving others, and developing personal spiritual practices.
Weddings- We offer weddings for all adults, regardless of your gender or sexuality, as long as you are committed to loving, learning, respecting and forgiving each other. Our pastor may officiate weddings for members or non-members after pre-marital counseling sessions. In these sessions you will discuss expectations in marriage, finances, communication styles, conflict resolution, and family of origin. Ceremonies can be held in our building or at off-site venues.
Funerals- Our pastor offers funeral or memorial services to anyone in need at the church, funeral home, or graveside. The service follows the Lutheran order but can be adjusted to reflect the person being remembered and inspire hope in the Resurrection.
Other life events- All your life experiences, whether significant or mundane, can be recognized through your faith. Our congregation offers blessings, prayer, and discernment for all life transitions, such as new homes or new jobs, the loss of a pet or job, the ending of a relationship, or any of the everyday tasks that make life what it is.
